We’re Elevate Energy

We’ve been working for some time to come up with a new name for our organization. Our goal was to find a name that better expresses our mission and values. We found that our mission and values boiled down to a deceptively simple phrase: Smarter energy use for all.

Our organization is a community of thinkers and doers who believe that everyone should have access to resources that enable more efficient energy use. Why? Because we care about building livable, equitable communities. We care about promoting economic development. And, we care about protecting the environment. We believe that these things can all go hand in hand if we work together to come up with smart, strategic, holistic solutions. And the way we can make a difference in all of these areas is to help people use energy in ways that are smarter and more efficient.

In other words, to achieve the big changes we seek to make, we need to elevate energy. We need to elevate energy issues in the minds of people and get them to take action. We need to elevate the discourse and thinking in the energy industry. We need to elevate our own efforts and show others how to do the same.

Elevating energy is what we need to do, and that’s now who we are.

We believe our new name, Elevate Energy, fits with our ongoing mission to help people do more with less energy. We design and implement programs that lower energy costs, protect the environment, and ensure that the benefits of energy efficiency reach those who need them most.

Our programs accomplish all of these things – from 17,000 apartment unit upgrades with our partners Community Investment Corporation and the Preservation Compact, to the 23,000 families we’ve helped save on their utility bills through dynamic electricity pricing programs for ComEd and Ameren Illinois, to completing nearly 3,600 single-family retrofits in just over a year via Energy Impact Illinois.

As Elevate Energy, we will continue to design and implement these programs, and we plan to expand our offerings in Illinois and beyond. We’ll also maintain our affiliation with the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT), a leader in promoting urban sustainability and the more effective use of existing resources and community assets. For example, we are currently working with CNT to incorporate water conservation and flood prevention measures into our building retrofit programs.

As you may have noticed, we’ve also redesigned our website to reflect our new name. We hope you find the site easier to navigate and nicer to look at. Be sure to follow our blog for updates on our work and relevant energy efficiency issues and events. Check out the home savings section of our website for ways to save energy and money at home, including do-it-yourself tips and resources. We also offer a more robust research and results section to highlight our work and demonstrate our impact.

As always, please be sure to keep in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter.

We’re very excited to share this news. We here at Elevate look forward to forging ahead with you to deliver smarter energy use for all.
