IT Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)

The IT infrastructure Engineer role requires a wide range of technical skills, including system and server management, exchange administration, and networking configuration. The role also involves vendor management, support for the IT team, and domain management. Additionally, the successful candidate must support Elevate Energy’s flexible work hours.

The IT Infrastructure Engineer reports to the IT Director. This position is in Chicago, Illinois and is hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Tech Services team in their efforts to maintain and improve the organization’s IT systems.
  • Managing all tools and software that the organization acquires and that are needed for the business. This includes tools such as M365, Azure, AirTable, Atlassian Products, and more.
  • Managing vendor relationships, including meeting with vendors, negotiating contracts, and purchasing products and services as needed.
  • Administering the organization’s Exchange server.
  • Linux server administration. This includes user and security administration, server patching, new server and database configuration, server monitoring, and anti-virus.
  • Software installation and patching for Linux web servers, such as Apache webserver and Tomcat.
  • Providing escalated support for the IT support team.
  • Managing all domains associated with the organization’s IT systems.
  • Configuring and managing networking infrastructure, including firewall management.
  • Providing on-premise infrastructure support and management, including managing and configuring devices such as access points, firewalls, switches, routers, and NAS.
  • Managing servers and ensuring that they are patched and configured properly. This includes Hyper-V management.
  • Supporting Elevate Energy’s flexible work hours, including normal business hours and on-call rotation.
  • Ensuring that backups are performed regularly, and that data is properly protected.
  • Provide superior, timely customer service to both internal and external customers throughout ticket process, documenting communications from ticket creation through closure via the IT Team’s ticketing system.
  • Ensuring that backups are performed regularly, and that data is properly protected along with creating and maintaining backup policies.
  • Create and update documentation that includes but is not limited to network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Provisioning and maintain storage (cloud & on-premise).
  • Manage Web Access Firewall for outward facing servers

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Azure and M365 experience
  • Proficient in Linux security and administration
  • Proficient in implementing and maintaining HyperV/VMWare VSphere, WAN/LAN Networking, SQL Server Management
  • Preferred Microsoft Azure Certification (AZ-900)
  • Preferred Microsoft Azure Certification (AZ-104)
  • Knowledge of Powershell, Active Directory & Entra ID, and licenses
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

Compensation

The total compensation for this position includes health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.), defined contribution benefit (401k with contribution), professional development, generous paid time off policies, and a flexible schedule. This is an exempt individual contributor position with a salary range of $75,000 – $90,000, based on experience.
