Elevate Urges Reversal of HHS Decision To Fire Entire LIHEAP Staff, Threatening Vulnerable Communities

“Elevate is deeply alarmed about the decision by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to fire the entire staff of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This action not only undermines the critical work of LIHEAP but also places vulnerable communities at risk, particularly as many families struggle to pay rising energy costs. The dedication and expertise of these staff members have been essential in providing support to those in need, and their dismissal will have a direct negative impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the program.  

“This move demonstrates a troubling disregard for the well-being of low-income families in every district across the nation and the vital services that help them maintain access to essential energy resources.
