Nonprofit Organization Supports D.C. Delegation to Speak with Congressional Leaders

Yesterday, Elevate Energy (Elevate), a nonprofit organization seeking to create a just and equitable world in which everyone has clean and affordable heat, cooling, power, and water in their homes and communities, supported a delegation of faith leaders and business leaders to D.C. to speak with Republican and Democratic Congressional Leaders from states including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin about the importance of preserving the Inflation Reduction Act’s energy tax incentives.

Elevate’s CEO, Dr. Anne Evens shared the following statement on the delegation:
“Our delegation’s visit to Washington, D.C. was a critical opportunity to advocate for the future of clean, renewable energy sources in our economy and to highlight the benefits key investments are bringing to hardworking families across the nation. As we continue to build a more sustainable future, it is imperative that we ensure these vital clean energy investments remain a top priority in the upcoming budget reconciliation.

“Advanced energy investments and tax credits are driving billions of dollars into local economies, powering economic development, creating jobs, and reducing energy costs. These investments not only lower energy bills for American families and small businesses but also enable greater energy independence.

“Moreover, by protecting local energy jobs in the budget reconciliation process, we are creating new, high-quality, long-lasting employment opportunities that strengthen our workforce – especially in Republican-led states. From contractors to construction workers, and from manufacturers to tech innovators, clean energy investments are driving job creation and fostering business growth in every region of the country.

“As Congress debates the future of this nation’s economy, we know that these tax credits are of tremendous value – helping lift people out of poverty. These energy tax credits will bolster domestic manufacturing, drive demand for American-made clean energy technologies, and
unleash a wave of innovation and entrepreneurship. It’s time for lawmakers across both aisles to understand that clean energy is not just a moral imperative, it’s an economic one.

“We urge lawmakers to support clean energy tax credits and investments that will enable the next generation of hard-working families and entrepreneurs to thrive. These investments will help drive our economy forward and ensure that the benefits of clean, renewable energy are felt in every corner of the country, providing jobs and economic vitality for years to come.”
