Statement on the Roll Back of Investments Toward Clean Energy

Yesterday, the Environmental Protection Agency announced the termination and roll back of $20 billion in grants for clean energy projects.

In response, Elevate CEO Dr. Anne Evens released the following statement:

“The decision by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to terminate $20 billion in clean energy grants is a devastating setback for communities striving for lower energy costs, job creation, and healthy places to live.

“This action disrupts critical projects that were working to reduce pollution and improve public health while strengthening our energy independence and creating new job growth nationwide. By pulling the plug on these investments, the EPA is effectively pulling the plug on innovation—jeopardizing thousands of clean energy jobs and putting communities at risk of higher energy bills and outdated energy infrastructure.

“Congress authorized this funding to accelerate America’s transition to a more sustainable, more affordable future. We stand with the organizations challenging this decision and urge the EPA to reverse course. The stakes are too high—our economy, our environment, and hard-working families cannot afford to wait.”
