Customer Savings Top $15 Million on ComEd’s Hourly Pricing
Huge savings alert!
Over 10,500 customers on ComEd’s Hourly Pricing electric rate have collectively saved $15 million on their bills compared with what they would have paid on ComEd’s standard fixed price rate. The rate option is available to all ComEd customers with a smart meter, which ComEd is currently installing for its nearly 4 million customers. Since the program started in 2007, Hourly Pricing participants have saved an average of 15 percent on the electricity supply portion of their bills. Elevate Energy has administered the program since its inception.
How are customers saving all this money? And how can you get in on the action? ComEd’s Hourly Pricing program lets customers pay a supply rate based on hourly market prices for electricity. By shifting your electricity usage when the price for electricity is low, such as nights and weekends, you can take control of your electricity costs and save.
Participants on the program have access to tools that make it easy to keep track of prices and monitor electricity use. Real-time day-of alerts and day-ahead price alerts are provided when prices are expected to be high. Along with a team of Hourly Pricing program specialists available to answer questions and help you get the best possible value from hourly electricity pricing, online tools are available 24/7 to help you keep track of prices and manage your usage and costs.
Mike McMahon of Lockport, a former member of the U.S. Naval Construction Forces, has been an Hourly Pricing participant since 2014 and has saved $600. “Our electric vehicle’s onboard timer is set for midnight every day, when the cost of electricity is lowest; most times we pay next to nothing to fully charge our car. I love Hourly Pricing and I’ve recommended it to many friends and family members.”
